I had to have Sara Richard's cover, really! |
Something a little different for
Friends Forever this time: Tony Fleecs not only draws the comic (well, most of it; I'll come back to that in a minute) but writes it as well. He does a pretty good job, too; although this issue suffers from the perennial problem of a rushed ending, the story is pleasant despite being simple; it's good to see the buffalo again and there's an amusing recurring joke. Fleecs's art is generally fine, if just occasionally a little wonky – but the highlight of this issue is without doubt the
five pages of the story illustrated by Sara Richard. This is easily the most she's ever contributed to a single issue. It's absolutely spectacular, too, to the extent that on its own it upgrades this comic from a three-star to a four-star rating. If you admire Richard's art, and most of us do, then this is an absolute must-buy. ★★★★
