Why? I've always loved Friendship is Witchcraft. It remains my favourite abridged series – ahead of Mentally Advanced, ahead of Scootertrix, ahead of everything. And among its best features were the original songs that gradually became more interesting as the series went on. "Sweetie's Big Race" (from episode 5, "Neigh, Soul Sister") is a fun little piece even in its original form, with Sweetie Bot putting a whole new spin on the events of "Sisterhood Social". Toastwaffle's version, though, picks up the pace, adds some unbearably catchy instrumentals and makes Sweetie Bot's vocals seem a little more menacing – as, in the context of FiW, they probably should be.

Friendship is Witchcraft: Horse Women returns at last!

Well, this is a fairly major surprise, at least to me. A couple of years (ish?) after we last heard from the FiW team*, Sherclop Pones is back with the second part of Equestria Girls parody, Horse Women. This episode adds in a bit of The Return of Harmony at the start, whose main benefit is to give us an all-too-brief slice of Sweetie Bot. Then we're off to humanland, where the highlight is probably Rina-chan's perfect Sunset Shimmer. Is it any good? Well, I laughed. Is that a guarantor of quality? Well, no. But again: I laughed.

* Well, apart from that reading of FiW episode 10. Dare we hope that might (eventually) become a full-blown episode now?

Video review: "Seed No Evil" (Friendship is Witchcraft E09)

 

This release (go here if you can't see the video above) really caught me by surprise! I knew that this episode would be based on "One Bad Apple", but I wasn't expecting it to appear until the autumn. I wasn't quite as blown away as many by "Foaly Matripony", but FiW certainly remains my favourite series of this type, in any fandom. There was a real twist in this episode (although not a real Twist) that I wasn't expecting at all, and that has caused a little bit of an uneven reaction. What did I think? You know the form by now: past the jump, everypony!

Review: "Foaly Matripony" (Friendship is Witchcraft E08)

BBBFF, the most exciting colt-band in all Equestria

It's been a long wait, made even lengthier by YouTube problems, but "Foaly Matripony", the latest instalment of SherclopPones' famous abridged series, Friendship is Witchcraft, has finally arrived. I make no bones about saying that this is, and has been for a long time, my favourite abridged Pony series. This episode is based on the S2 finale, though it's much more about the wedding bits than the Chrysalis-fighting stuff. I was disappointed by that lack when I first started watching it, but in the end I think it turned out okay. Review after the jump!
