Comic review: My Little Pony Annual 2014

MLP 2014 Annual, main cover
I can't help thinking the Pharaoh looks a bit like Sombra...
This year's My Little Pony Annual, which is a Power Ponies special, has been rather overshadowed by the brouhaha surrounding Ted Anderson's position at IDW, still unresolved at the time of going to press. This review isn't going to say anything more about that, but will simply concentrate on assessing the comic itself. As well as Anderson's writing, we also get Ben Bates' swansong as an illustrator before he moves to pastures new, and good old Heather Breckel doing the colours. Past the break for more!

Comic review: MLP:FiM Micro-series issue #7: Cutie Mark Crusaders

MLP:FiM micro #7 cover
ScootaDash and Doctor Bloom: Amy Mebberson's great cover
Finally! After a delay caused partly by BUCK and partly by the inability of UK distributors to get this thing out in time, I can return to comic reviews with this, the first non-Mane Six micro. The CMC were always a likely choice for this issue, since they're very popular in the fandom at large (including with me!) and there's plenty of scope for them to go on mini-adventures. I bought my copy for the usual £3.15 in the usual Nostalgia and Comics. Past the jump, we'll find out more!

Comic review: MLP:FiM Micro-series issue #5: Pinkie Pie

MLP:FiM Micro-series #5 Cover A
Amy Mebberson's very amusing Cover A
As usually seems to happen with IDW's My Little Pony comics, I was slightly taken aback by the quick release of issue #5 in the Micro-series, featuring Pinkie Pie. There's an all-new team for this one: writing duties are given to Ted Anderson, while the artwork is the responsibility of Ben Bates. Since I couldn't make it to Nostalgia & Comics this time, I spent £2.64 on a digital edition from Comixology. Apologies for the poorer-quality pictures than usual: I couldn't get screenshots to work properly, so resorted to photographing my monitor with a camera! Anyway, spoilers and such beyond the jump...
